Relational connections are marriages, friendships, partnerships, associations, and parental relationships. It also applies to your relationship with money. Yes, your financial beliefs and actions. What is your stance on finances and how you see money? Are you an emotional spender, saver or investor?
Money is a tool to help you live, but the love of money is the root of all kinds of evil. 1 Timothy 6:10 Meaning if you are money driven you will do anything to get more of it and morals may be tested as well as your character. Your relationship with money matters in how you live, what you do, your purchases, how you value it and your environment. We definitely do not want money to become an idol and replace God in our lives. We don't want to seek money over our personal relationship with God who is the source of all things. God supplies all our needs so placing money above God is dangerous and leads to a path of destruction and destructive behavior.
It's easy to slip in to a self sufficient mindset rather than depending on God. We must be intentional to seek first the Kingdom of God and his righteousness, and all these things will be added unto you Matthew 6:33. God will give provision for our lives according to our obedience and alignment with the Word of God, seeking to walk upright. It is absolutely true that many people are wealthy and rich with believing in God but as for those who are in Christ, Jesus. Our focus is our relationship with God and his provision for our lives. God also gives us the ability to get wealth and wants us to be good stewards over what he places in our hands.
True happiness does not come from money or posessessions. It is not based on circumstances or events but rather from the Lord above and reflection. Money and posessessions should not be our defining goal and life focus. I have walked by the concept that God has blessed me to be a blessing to others and everything in my hands belongs to him, I am just a steward.
I was an emotional spender for a season and bought cars based on how I was feeling and the circumstances going on in my life at certain periods.Through counseling I was able to identify the issue and get down to the root of my problem to stop the behavior. I now have a better relationship with money and control over my actions.
